The Differences between Baby Carriers and Baby Wraps.

baby wrapWhen a new baby is born, you want to keep them as close to you as possible much of the time. Holding the baby can get very difficult to do the older they get. While you want to be near the baby, you cannot hold him all day. Finding a way to carry your little one with as little trouble as possible is the key to gaining the use of your arms again and still holding your new baby.

Baby wraps are one way you can carry your new baby.  These devices are essentially long, specially-cut pieces of wide, stretchy fabric that you wrap around yourself and the baby. You tuck the ends of the wrap into itself, or attach it another way to ensure that it will stay tight.

Concerns about Baby Carriers

All babies want to be carried around. The best position for you to carry your baby in is facing you, on your chest, with the baby in a sitting like position. This gives proper support to the baby’s whole body. The position of the baby’s leg when being carried is very important. The legs should be positioned up at a 90 percent angle or more. Leg position is what supports the babies back, spine and legs. There should be support behind the baby’s knees and the carrier should be tightly around the body of the baby to provide full support. The baby should not be able to slouch over when he falls asleep when he is being carried.
